Chinese Odyssey Volume 1

This is a beginning Chinese course appropriate for learners with little or no background in Chinese. Volume 1 has a total of 10 lessons (the specific lesson titles are in the right column). In this volume, students are introduced to the pinyin system for writing Chinese using the Roman alphabet, the Chinese writing system, and basic Chinese grammar. Students learn the basic principles of Chinese character composition and pronunciation with special emphasis on tones. This volume contains a broad range of activities that develop and solidify the student's listening, speaking, reading, writing, and grammar skills.
